HYDERABAD: Actress Amala Akkineni has called on Rahul Gandhi to take action against party leaders following controversial remarks made by Telangana Minister Konda Surekha. The minister’s statements, which involved the Akkineni family, sparked a heated backlash, prompting Amala to express her dismay via social media. She also demanded an apology from Surekha.

In a post, Amala wrote, “It is shocking that a woman minister can turn into a monster, spreading false stories. Peaceful citizens are being dragged into political warfare. Would you seriously accept the slanderous claims of rude individuals against my husband without any shame?”

Addressing Rahul Gandhi directly, she added, “Dear Rahul, what kind of country will we become if our leaders behave like criminals? If you believe in human decency, you should urge your leaders to refrain from such actions. The minister should be asked to apologize to my family. It is essential to protect the citizens of this country.”

The controversy began when Minister Konda Surekha made a startling claim that K T Rama Rao (KTR) was involved in the divorce of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. She alleged that KTR had demanded Samantha be sent to him in exchange for not demolishing the N-Convention Centre, co-owned by Nagarjuna. Surekha further claimed that Samantha’s refusal led to the couple’s divorce.

Following these accusations, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya and his father, superstar Nagarjuna, publicly condemned the minister’s remarks.
