KOCHI: A domestic elephant that ran into forest from a film shooting set has been found and brought back to safety. Tusker Puthuppally Sadhu clashed with the other three elephants in the shooting set and ran into the forest in fear. The incident occurred on Saturday in Bhoothathankettu in Kothamangalam.

After hours of searching, the investigation team found Sadhu near the old forest station. The elephant is perfectly healthy and was easily brought back to the set.

Onlookers say that Sadhu, who was standing calmly on the shooting set the other day, panicked and ran into the forest. Amidst the commotion, the film crew and onlookers skittered and fled the spot in fear. The elephants were brought in as part of the shooting of a Telugu film starring Vijay Devarakonda. Three female elephants and two male tuskers were brought for the shooting.

It was another tusker Manikandan who attacked Sadhu unprovoked creating tension in the set. The search for the elephant was conducted till 10 o'clock last night. It was on Saturday morning that the elephant was finally located inside the forest.

Puthuppally Sadhu is a regular presence in the procession of major festivals in Kerala including Thrissur Pooram. What made the tusker famous was his cameo appearance in major films. Special permission is required to feature elephants in films. Papala Paramb Pothan Varghese, a native of Puthupally, owns the tusker.
