KOLLAM: Raged over the sudden power outage, an entrepreneur reached the KSEB office and poured leavened flour over his head in protest. Kulangarakal Rajesh, who runs a flour mill in Ilampallur Veluthampi Nagar, protested before the Kundara KSEB office by bathing in stale flour.

Although it was announced that the power would be cut off from 9.30 to 10.30 am, the outage went beyond the scheduled time. Even after 11 am, the power outage continued, hampering many works including that of Rajesh's. The flour Rajesh had kneaded became sour and useless due to the continuous power outage.

According to Rajesh, he woke up at six in the morning to complete the work and supply the flour to shops before 1 pm. The power outage put everything into disarray and ensured that Rajesh suffered a loss of Rs 10, 000. It was only after reaching the office in protest that Rajesh received a message from KSEB informing him about the extended power outage. Rajesh is planning to file a complaint with higher officials and the police against the mismanagement of KSEB officials.

However, the Kundara section sub-engineer said that the electricity was cut off because the transformer had to be changed urgently.
