NEW DELHI: Sanju Samson failed to capitalize on favourable batting conditions in the second Twenty20 match against Bangladesh. After smashing Mehdi Hasan Miraz for two boundaries in the first over, Sanju returned to the pavilion with 10 runs after getting dismissed in the last ball of the second over. Taskin Ahmed with a slow delivery confounded Sanju, who misjudged the hit, giving an easy catch for Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Given early batting fireworks, many expected Sanju to thrive on the batting pitch but alas, the attitude to hurry for runs proved costly for the Malayali star. Sanju got a chance in two matches during the tour of Sri Lanka, but both times the player was dismissed for a duck. Malayalee fans are incensed over Sanju’s failure to fortify his presence in the crease. Despite getting many chances, the cricketer has not yet proven his mettle. This would also weaken the protest chants from fans who had previously fought vociferously for Sanju’s inclusion into the national team.
