MUMBAI: A sense of gloom gripped India on Thursday with the passing of Ratan Tata, the national icon and chairman emeritus of Tata Sons. The tributes are endlessly pouring for Tata while celebrities too have joined in the bereavement. Amidst the many heartfelt messages, Simi Garewal’s post weighed a special relevance and connection, unlike other such posts.

"They say you have gone ..It's so hard to bear your loss..too hard.. Farewell my friend..#ratantata" Simi wrote on Instagram.

Netizens may connect this message with her 2001 epic episode featuring Ratan Tata in her show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’. However, there is more than what meets the eye. At some point in their life, the two were romantically involved and even went ahead for marriage. However, the dream never came to fruition. The flame that kept the relationship running also ended when Simi married Ravi Mohan, who came from an elite Delhi family. The marriage lasted for ten years and the couple decided to part ways.

In the meantime, Ratan Tata drifted apart and had his eyes fixated only on business. Despite the melancholy, the two continued a beautiful rapport, as Simi had once termed Ratan as an ideal person, humorous, humble, and the epitome of a gentleman.

Ratan Tata’s episode on Simi's show is still viral on YouTube while Simi’s latest Instagram post is going viral.
