BENGALURU: A young man in Bengaluru was dismissed from his job after sending a threatening message to a woman, warning her to wear modest clothing or face the possibility of an acid attack. Nikit Shetty, an employee of Etios Service, faced immediate repercussions after journalist Shahbaz Ansar, the woman's husband, shared a screenshot of the threatening message on social media.
In the message, Shetty stated, "Wife should be told to dress modestly. Especially in Karnataka. Or there is a possibility of acid falling on her face." Ansar tagged Karnataka Chief Minister, the DGP and minister DK Shivakumar in his post, urging swift action against Shetty.
In response to the incident, Etios Service released a statement: "Our employee has interfered with a person's right to choose what to wear and threatened her. We are deeply saddened by the incident. This behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against the core values that Etios Service upholds. As a company committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment, we took immediate action. Nikit has been dismissed from the company for five years and the police have registered a case against him. We do not condone violence and will continue to take all necessary steps to uphold our standards."
