CHENNAI: The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has recorded the statement of Chief Minister's daughter Veena Vijayan in the controversial monthly-pay off case. Veena Vijayan appeared at the office in Chennai last Wednesday and gave her statement to investigating officer Arun Prasad.
The SFIO had collected information from Veena's company, Exalogic, on several occasions. There was criticism that Veena's statement was not recorded. The final report of the case has to be submitted in November. The case is that Veena Vijayan and her company obtained money illegally from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).
Exalogic accepted 1.72 crore from Kochi-based black sand company CMRL on a monthly basis. It is indicated that the SFIO was collecting statements in the last few days in connection with the final phase of the investigation. Two weeks ago, KSIDC officials and CMRL officials were summoned again for questioning.
The SFIO had asked Veena Vijayan to hand over the records of all the financial transactions made in connection with the company, a few days ago. The Exalogic is believed to have handed over it. A detailed statement has now been recorded from Veena Vijayan on the basis of those documents. It is indicated that Veena's statement was recorded in two different times.
