KOCHI: A teacher couple and their two children were found dead at Mamala Kakkad near Chottanikkara in Ernakulam. It is suspected to be a case of suicide. A suicide note has been recovered from the room. Those dead are Renjith (45) of Padinjarevaryath of Mamala Kakkad, his wife Reshmi (40) and children Aadhi (12) and Aadhya (8).

Renjith was a teacher of St Mary’s School in Kandanad and Reshmi, a teacher of Poothotta SNDP School. The children were students of this school. As no reply was obtained from the couple even after calling them, the school authorities informed the panchayat member.

The member with the help of the neighbours reached their house, examined and saw the bodies. The teacher couple were found hanging in the dining room and the bodies of the children were found on the bed.

A suicide note was recovered from the room. The note has mentioned financial liabilities for taking the drastic step but the police are investigating whether this is only the cause. The note has also asked to hand over their bodies to medical college for studies.

The police reached the spot and started inquest proceedings.
