Stole luxury bike as gift for friend, two youths arrested

KOCHI: The Elamakkara police have arrested two youths in connection with the theft of a luxury bike worth Rs 4 lakh. The suspects, identified as Savio Babu, a native of Kollam and Charles, a native of Kodungallur, were arrested in Kollam.

According to the police, the duo stole the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 from a parking lot in front of a mall in Edappally, Kochi, last Friday. They intended to gift the bike to a friend who did not have one of his own. The owner of the bike filed a complaint soon after the theft.

CCTV footage from the mall played a crucial role in tracking down the suspects. The investigation led authorities to a house in Ernakulam, where the stolen bike was found, resulting in the arrest of the two accused.

The police are currently interrogating the suspects to determine if others were involved in the crime. It has also been revealed that the accused used a bike with a fake number plate during the theft. Both suspects will be produced in court today.
