THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: GS Deepu aka Cooper Deepu (30), the accused who sexually abused a civil service aspirant in Thiruvananthapuram, has surrendered before the police. Deepu, who has been on the run for the past few days, turned himself in at the Kazhakkoottam police station last night and was subsequently arrested. The accused later confessed to the crime during the interrogation conducted by Kazhakkoottam Assistant Commissioner Niyas and SI Ranjith. He will be produced in court today and remanded.
The police are planning to take the accused in custody to conduct further questioning and gather evidence in the case. Prior to his surrender, Deepu had been hiding in various locations including Karnataka, Madurai, and Chennai, following the registration of the case against him.
The incident occurred on October 8th at 11 pm at an apartment in Kazhakkoottam where the young woman resides. Deepu is a friend of the woman's male friend and is a used car dealer. He got the nickname 'Cooper Deepu' because he sells Cooper cars, which are high-end vehicles.
