Kannur ADM Naveen Babu found dead; body found in quarters

KANNUR: Kannur ADM K Naveen Babu has been found dead. He was found hanging in the quarters at Pallikunnu. Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya had yesterday levelled corruption allegations against him. A sendoff was given to Naveen Babu under the leadership of district collector after he was transferred as Pathanamthitta ADM. Divya came at the function uninvited and raised allegations against him.

Divya accused him of corruption in giving permission to the petrol pump in Chengalai. She left the venue saying that he should not function in the same way where he is going and that she doesn’t want to see giving a memento to him. It is believed that he took the drastic step due to the insult. Criticism is being raised that the district panchayat president showed her objection that something which was not done despite her recommendation was later done on someone else' recommendation.

Naveen Babu came to Kannur as ADM from Kasaragod during the last elections. After the sendoff yesterday, he was supposed to board the Malabar Express from Kannur to Pathanamthitta last night. He was found hanging in the morning in a search conducted after his family informed of his absence in the train.

He leaves behind his wife Manjusha, Konni tahasildar and two daughters.
