Sexually assaulted young woman in Varkala, 23-year-old arrested

VARKALA: Police have arrested a 23-year-old youth, Anvar Sha, hailing from Arshana Mansil, Shasthamkotta, Kollam, in connection with the sexual assault of a young woman in Varkala. The incident occurred near Helipad Kochuvilamukk around 1:15 am last Sunday.

According to police reports, the young woman and her friend had come to Varkala to attend her friend's engagement. The assault took place near the resort where the women were staying, with Anvar Sha allegedly attacking the victim while he was under the influence of alcohol.

After the assault, Anvar Sha attempted to flee on a motorbike but was followed and arrested by a police patrol team. The accused was presented in court and has been remanded in custody pending further investigation.
