NEW DELHI: The central government is likely to reshuffle gubernatorial posts in various states and union territories. There are reports that there may be a reshuffle as the governors of the states including Kerala and Uttar Pradesh have completed three to five consecutive years in office.
Five years have passed since Arif Mohammad Khan had taken charge as the Governor of Kerala. There are hints that Arif Mohammed Khan will be replaced by the post of governor or some other post. Lt General Devendra Kumar Joshi of Andaman Nicobar may be given charge of Kerala or Jammu and Kashmir. Devendra Kumar Joshi is also a former Navy chief.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has been in charge of administration in Jammu and Kashmir for more than four years. There are indications that Ram Madhav will take charge in Jammu and Kashmir. Ram Madhav is the BJP’s former national secretary. Anandiben Patel has been serving as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh for over five years. Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi have held the same post for three years each. There may be a change in this.
Citing official sources, the New Indian Express reported that the reorganization will take place after the formation of new governments in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana or after the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
