MUMBAI: In a major development, Bollywood’s popular film producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor have been charged with POCSO case by Mumbai police for spreading obscene footage of minor girls through an adult web series.

The objectionable scene comes in an episode of the web series ‘Gandi Baat’ produced under the banner of Ekta’s ALT Balaji production house. The complaint was raised against the sixth season of the ‘Gandii Baat’ series streamed in 2021. In the complaint, it is alleged that the episode, which was streamed between February 2021 and April 2021, showed lewd scenes of underage girls.

Currently, this episode has been pulled from the streaming app. National media reports that a case has been registered at the MHB police station in Mumbai invoking Section 295 of the IPC and Sections 13 and 15 of the IT Act and POCSO.

‘Gandii Baat’ was earlier removed from ZEE5 and MX Player, following the new regulations introduced by the Indian government that strictly prohibited highly uncensored content from streaming on OTT platforms.
