NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will consider actor Siddique's anticipatory bail plea today in the sexual assault case. The survivor and the state government are preparing to strongly oppose it. Thiruvananthapuram Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner Ajichandran Nair, the investigating officer, has submitted a report stating that Siddique is not cooperating with the investigation and needs to be taken into custody.
However, Siddique affirmed in his affidavit that he has cooperated fully with the investigation, appearing whenever summoned. He mentioned that he no longer possesses his old phones and has already handed over phone numbers and other relevant details to the police. The affidavit also claims that the police are unjustly pursuing him.
The apex court had granted interim bail to Siddique on September 30 citing the delay of 8 years in filing the complaint and registering the case. The government is now trying to prevent this bail from being made permanent. A bench comprising Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma will be hearing the case.
