SULTAN BATHERI: Priyanka Gandhi visited Wayanad yesterday to submit her nomination papers and during her journey, she stopped at the home of a local resident, Thresya, in Bathery. On her way to Sapta Resort, where her accommodation was arranged, Priyanka noticed a group of people gathered near the road in Karumamkulam. She immediately asked her brother, Rahul Gandhi, to stop the car and got out to greet them.
Among those gathered, one of the bystanders mentioned that Thresya’s mother wanted to see Priyanka but was unable to walk and was at home. Priyanka, upon hearing this, inquired about the distance and decided to walk with them to Thresya’s house. The family was overjoyed by Priyanka's unexpected visit. Upon seeing her guest, Thresyamma embraced Priyanka warmly and kissed her.
After spending time asking about the family and their well-being, Priyanka was sent off with sweets and a rosary. Thresya’s family expressed their happiness at the visit, especially since Thresya had always admired Priyanka but had been unable to see her due to mobility issues.
Thresya’s son had informed Priyanka earlier about his mother's admiration for her, which led to the personal visit. The heartwarming encounter left the family deeply moved by Priyanka’s kindness.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi praised his sister, Priyanka, who is the Congress candidate for the Wayanad constituency. In a message shared on social media platform X, Rahul mentioned that Wayanad holds a special place in his heart and that he couldn't imagine a better representative for the people of the constituency than his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.
