THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet discussed the new provisions in the amendment to the Explosives Act introduced by the central government on Wednesday. The Cabinet expressed apprehension that the amendment in the rules under the Explosives Act issued by the Union Government on October 11 would adversely affect the use of firecrackers in temple festivals including in Thrissur Pooram.

The state's concerns were brought to the attention of the central government. The CMO will also write to the central government to consider the matter seriously.

The cabinet has decided to allocate government surplus land to set up sewage treatment plants in all local government areas of the state. The Cabinet also decided to validate the issuance of attested copies of documents lost or destroyed in the Wayanad disaster and liability certificates to disaster victims free of cost, registration fee, and stamp duty.

For the development of Rajagiri Hospital in Ernakulam, the land has been given conditional concession under the Land Reforms Act.
