THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The woman doctor, who shot a woman in Vanchiyoor with an air pistol, has been released from jail after the high court granted her bail. The court granted bail to Dr Deepthimol Jose for injuring a woman identified as Shini of Pankaj House in Palkulangara. She was granted bail on executing a bond of Rs one lakh and with two solvent sureties for the same amount. She was asked to surrender her passport in the court. Justice C S Dias granted bail after considering her jail term of 84 days and completion of the investigation.

The incident happened on July 28. The accused disguised as a courier delivery person attacked Shini with an air pistol, causing injuries. When the doctor rang the calling bell, Shini’s father-in-law opened the door. She said that there was a courier for Shini and that she should sign and get the delivery. When her father-in-law went inside to take a pen, Shini came out.

The doctor fired after asking Shini's name and confirming it. The first shot hit Shini's hand and the other two on the floor. Deepthi arrived in a silver Celerio car. Shini's injury was not serious. She had sought treatment at a private hospital and then returned home. A detailed investigation by the police clarified that the doctor was behind the attack.
