THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has granted bail to UDF candidate Rahul Mamkoottathil in connection with a case related to a conflict during an assembly march. This development comes ahead of the Palakkad by-election, where Rahul is contesting as a candidate.
Despite opposition from the police, the court granted relief to Rahul, stating that he will not be required to appear at the Museum Police Station until November 13. The court imposed a condition that he must sign in at the station every Monday.
Rahul had filed a plea seeking this relaxation, citing difficulties in traveling to Thiruvananthapuram during the by-election campaign. In response, the Museum Police submitted a report opposing the plea, arguing that such relief could send the wrong message and could lead to a repeat of the offense. They also pointed out that Rahul faces other cases in Cantonment and Adoor police stations.
