21 candidates submit nomination papers in Wayanad, 16 in Palakkad and 9 in Chelakkara

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The filing of nomination papers for the by-elections to the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and Palakkad and Chelakkara Assembly constituencies has concluded. A total of 21 candidates have submitted their nominations in Wayanad. 16 candidates are in the fray in Palakkad, while 9 candidates are contesting in Chelakkara.

In Palakkad, K Binumol (CPM) and K Pramila Kumari (BJP) filed nomination papers as dummy candidates, while S Selvan, Rahul R, Siddique, Ramesh Kumar, S, Satish, B Shamir and Rahul R Manaladiveedu filed nomination papers as independent candidates.

9 candidates are contesting in Chelakkara. LDF candidate UR Pradeep, UDF candidate Ramya PM, and NDA candidate K Balakrishnan are in the fray. Independent candidate Sudheer NK, who has the support of PV Anwar, has also submitted his nomination papers.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on October 28. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 3 pm on October 30.
