KASARGOD: A major disaster was averted on Saturday when the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat train came perilously close to colliding with a vehicle that had encroached onto the tracks. The incident occurred at 12:35 pm near Payyannur Railway Station, where construction works are going on as part of the Amrit Bharat project. A concrete mixing machine, brought in for construction purposes, entered the railway track just as the Vande Bharat train was approaching.

Thanks to the swift reflexes of the loco pilot, who promptly applied the brakes, the train managed to narrowly avoid a major disaster. Police have taken swift action, with the vehicle driver being taken into custody.
