PALAKKAD: K Muraleedharan said the DCC had informed him that his name was proposed as the candidate for the by-polls. He said DCC president A Thankappan had informed him that he had sent a letter to AICC requesting to field him as the candidate.

I don’t know how the letter came out now. Muraleedharan said there is no need for further discussion on the letter as the candidate has been announced. Meantime, UDF candidate from Palakkad Constituency Rahul Mamkootathil responded that many names will come for discussion before the announcement of the candidate. He said that if Muraleedharan's name have come up for discussion then what is wrong, and he is a suitable candidate for any constituency in Kerala.

The DCC president had sent a two-page letter to the AICC requesting to nominate Muraleedharan. A part of the letter was released yesterday. The letter said that Muraleedharan should be fielded in Palakkad to defeat the BJP and this decision was taken unanimously by the DCC office bearers. The name of Rahul Mankootathil was not in the letter that came out.

However, opposition leader V D Satheesan's response was that he was not aware of the letter. He said the names of many will come up during the candidate selection and the decision will be taken considering many factors.
