Two youths arrested in Mangalapuram harassment case, habitual offender among arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two youths have been arrested for trying to sexually abuse a 20-year-old girl after barging into her house in broad daylight in Mangalapuram. The two arrested are Baiju of Kottiyam in Kollam and Jikko Shaji of Paravur. There are five cases pending against Jikko Shaji, said the police. The incident happened yesterday afternoon. The girl is a nursing student.

The accused came for some cable work near her house. The girl was alone at home. When her brother went out, the two barged into her house and sexually abused her. When she screamed, they stuffed cloth into her mouth. She somehow managed to escape from their hands, ran to a nearby house and informed them the incident. They in turn informed the police station. The police will examine the case in detail.
