MUMBAI: Actor Salman Khan received yet another death threat with a demand for Rs 2 crore, delivered via an anonymous message to the Mumbai Traffic Control. Following the incident, the Mumbai Police registered a case and launched an investigation under sections pertaining to intimidation and death threats.
This latest incident follows a series of threats against the Bollywood star, heightening concern for his safety. Previously, a message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline demanded Rs 5 crore from Khan, and a 24-year-old man named Sheikh Hussain Sheikh Mausin was arrested in connection with that case. Authorities have since escalated security measures around the actor.
In a related development, police yesterday arrested a 20-year-old man from Noida, identified as Gurfan Khan, for making death threats against both Khan and MLA Zeeshan Siddique. Zeeshan Siddique, son of former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was tragically shot dead on October 12, had also been targeted by the suspect.
The repeated threats against Khan have cast a shadow over his security. In recent years, the underworld gang led by Lawrence Bishnoi has issued multiple death threats to the actor. Bishnoi’s long-standing hostility towards Khan stems from the actor’s involvement in the blackbuck hunting case, as the animal holds deep cultural significance for Bishnoi's community.
With the increased security following Baba Siddique’s murder, authorities are taking no chances. Police are working to uncover the sources of these threats to ensure Salman Khan’s safety.
