KANNUR: The police remand report levelled serious allegations against PP Divya, saying that the CPM leader had direct involvement in the suicide of ADM Naveen Babu. The report also mentions that Divya, being a public representative, tried flouting the existing legal rules.

Divya went uninvited to the farewell function of ADM K Naveen Babu. She had a clear sense of what to do at the function and had previously planned to humiliate the official. Despite being charged with a case, Divya defied the legal system and went into hiding. The plan to record the event using a local media channel was part of her devious plan.

At the same time, the CPM leadership was caught offhanded for going back on their promise of punitive action against Divya after the court decision. The party is now trying to save face by posturing the earlier resignation of Divya as panchayat president, as part of punitive action.

The remand report also states that no complaints have been received regarding the petrol pump. The Collector has stated that Divya was not invited to the farewell ceremony. According to the report, there are already five criminal cases against Divya.

  • Divya's influence in the party is also mentioned in the remand report. She still holds sway in administrative centres. Witnesses are likely to be intimidated.

  • Divya knew about the consequences but went ahead with sharing the video through social media.

  • PP Divya filed a bail petition in the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court on Wednesday.

  • Divya's bail plea is based on the collector's purported statement that Naveen Babu admitted making a mistake.

  • District Collector Arun K Vijayan confirmed the news saying that Naveen Babu indeed admitted making a mistake.

The special Investigation team will request PP Divya’s custody for further questioning. The investigation team will be at Naveen Babu's house on Thursday to record the statements.
