Kerala Awards announced; M K Sanu honoured with Kerala Jyoti, S Somanath and Bhuvaneshwari among Kerala Prabha recipients

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Awards, the highest award given by the state government to distinguished individuals who have made comprehensive contributions in various fields, have been announced. This year's Kerala Jyoti award goes to Teacher and writer M K Sanu. Dr S Somanath (Science and Engineering) and Bhuvaneshwari (Agriculture) were awarded the Kerala Prabha Puraskar.

Kalamandalam Vimala Menon (Art), Dr. T.K. Jayakumar (Health), Narayana Bhattathiri (Calligraphy), Sanju Samson (Sports) Shaija Baby (Social Service, Asha worker), V.K. Mathews (Industry and Commerce) and were also awarded the Kerala Shri Award.

It is an award given by the state government on the pattern of Padma awards. The award determination was done at three levels namely Primary Scrutiny Committee (Secretary Level Committee), Secondary Scrutiny Committee and Award Committee. Recommendations submitted by the Secondary Scrutiny Committee Adoor Gopalakrishnan, K Jayakumar, Dr. The award committee consisting of B. Iqbal and others have given nominations to the government for the Kerala awards.
