Heavy rainfall alert in Kerala; IMD sounds warning for eight districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department warned about heavy rainfall in the state on Saturday. A yellow alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts.

IMD said there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour. The rain with thunder will continue in the state till November 5.

Meanwhile, the State Disaster Management Authority informed that people living in areas prone to landslides and mountain floods should move to safer places as per the authorities' instructions. Residents living in river banks and downstream areas of dams should also anticipate the risk of danger and evacuate as per the authorities' instructions.
