'More than toxic, even controlled my social media account' ; Kris Venugopal on previous marriage

Malayalam TV actors Kris Venugopal and Divya Sreedhar got married just a few days ago and it was news all across Kerala. Since their marriage, snippets from the duo's life have been coming up galore on online portals. And in the latest, Kris Venugopal opened up about his former marriage and the reason why he decided to come out of it.

This excerpt is from an interview given by Kris Venugopal to an online portal:

Kris:

“It was not toxic. It was more than that. I was not even allowed to put my photo as a profile picture. It was the stated rule. There used to be big scrutiny over my liked post and what I wrote on social media. Being a writer, the whole process took a heavy toll on me.

My divorce procedure started in 2019. She never appeared before the court hearings. Even after many requests, she never made it into the court. It means she is least bothered about the whole relationship. Most people still sympathise with her but they don’t know what I went through over the years. Being a male, I was subjected to scrutiny and my decisions were scoffed by society. I have no qualms, and there is no point blaming anyone. It is all water under the bridge now.“
