KOTTAYAM: Minister VN Vasavan said in a press conference that more spot bookings will be allowed in Sabarimala if there is a rush during the Mandala-Makaravilakku season. Spot booking facility is available at Pamba, Erumeli and Nilakkal along with virtual booking. In addition to the devaswom board's free insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh for the pilgrims, arrangements will also be made to bring the body back home in case of death.
The maintenance of the roads will be completed within 10 days. Elaborate facilities will be provided at Nilakkal, Sannidhanam, Kottayam Medical College, Pathanamthitta and Kanjirappally General Hospital. Antivenom will be made available to those who are bitten by snakes. Under the leadership of neurosurgeon Ramnarayan, the 'Devotees of Doctors' service of more than 100 doctors will be made available. There will be 40 lakh containers of aravana buffer stock on Vrishchikam 1st.
1000 steel chairs will be installed from Marakoottam to Sannidhanam. Drinking water and e-toilet facilities will be ensured. 1045 toilets will be set up in Nilakkal, 580 in Pamba and 1005 in Sannidhanam. More than 20 lakh devotees will be provided food at sannidhanam. Parking facility will be provided for 10,000 vehicles at Nilakkal. Efforts will be made to make parking arrangements at Pamba Hilltop and Chakkupallam with the permission of the court. The minister also said that another six-and-a-half acres in Erumeli will be used for parking. Travancore Devaswom Board President PS Prashanth and Devaswom Department Additional Secretary TR Jayapal were also present at the press conference.
