THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A slight change has been made in the rain warning for the state. A yellow alert has been announced today in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The Indian Meteorological Department has also informed that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala from November 3 to 5.
49 mm of rain fell in 45 minutes in Kannur Chemperi. 42 mm in 45 minutes in Aralat, 37 mm in half an hour in Peringome, and 25 mm in half an hour in Muvattupuzha. Meanwhile, Kottayam Aymanam received 30 mm of rain in half an hour and Puthuppally 15 mm of rain.
The water level in the dams has risen due to heavy rains. Malampuzha Dam will soon reach its maximum water level of 115.06 meters. This is the first time since 2018 that the water level in Malampuzha Dam has reached its maximum.
Once the maximum water level is reached, the spillway shutters will be opened further to adjust the water level, officials said. Entry of tourists to the dam will also be restricted.
