NEW DELHI: Around 65 objects were found in the stomach of a 14-year-old boy during a surgery. There were objects such as batteries, chains, razor blade fragments and screws. Aditya Sharma, a resident of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, succumbed to death after a five-hour-long surgery. The incident took place on October 28.

Aditya Sharma was rushed to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness. He was referred to a hospital in Jaipur. After the tests, he returned to UP on October 19. Two days later, he became ill again. A CT scan conducted in Aligarh had detected a nasal obstruction and it was treated. Aditya started having stomach aches after that. An ultrasound test was conducted in Aligarh on the 26th and 19 objects were found trapped inside his stomach. The child was immediately referred to a private hospital in Noida. In an examination conducted by doctors in Noida, 42 objects were found in the child's stomach. Aditya was later shifted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital for emergency medical attention. Scanning there confirmed that there were a total of 65 objects in Aditya's stomach. In the meantime, the child's heart rate increased to 280 per minute. After a subsequent examination, it was decided to perform surgery. Hospital authorities said it is possible that the child had swallowed the items. The child had an intestinal infection.

Aditya's father said that on October 27, doctors at Safdarjung Hospital performed surgery between 11 am and 4 pm and removed the items one by one from the child's stomach. However, Aditya had a stomach ache again. Three more objects were immediately removed. Sanchet Sharma said his son died the next day and the post-mortem report revealed an infection in his intestines. Aditya's father is an employee of a pharma company in Hathras.
