BRAMPTON: An attack was witnessed outside a Hindu temple in Canada. People carrying Khalistan flags attacked the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton. A video that circulated shows a violent group of people breaching the gates of the temple and attacking devotees outside the temple.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau strongly condemned the incident. Trudeau said violence at a Hindu Temple near Toronto is unacceptable. Canada MP Chandra Arya also condemned the attack by Khalistan activists. 'A red line has been crossed by Canadian Khalistani extremists. The attack by Khalistanis on the Hindu-Canadian devotees inside the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton shows how deep and brazen has Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada,' Chandra Arya wrote in X.
Beyond politics, Chandra Arya expressed concern that the Khalistanis have also infiltrated the law-enforcement system. He said that it is not surprising that Khalistanis get a free pass to enter Canada because of the Freedom of Expression Act, Canadian Hindus should ensure their rights and politicians should be responsible for the safety of the community.
Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre also condemned the attack on the temple premises. He said all Canadians should be free to practice their faith in peace. Conservatives condemn this violence unequivocally. I will unite our people and end the chaos.
The attack on the temple in Canada comes amid a tense situation between India and Canada due to a diplomatic spat and allegations in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case.
