18-year-old teen killed after lightning strikes in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An 18-year-old boy died due to a lightning strike in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. Mithun (18), a native of Attingal, died in the incident that happened in Thirichittapaara in Nedumangad. Another teen hit by the lightning is undergoing treatment.

Mithun along with his two friends reached Thannimoodu at 11.30 am this morning. Around noon, the locality witnessed heavy rain and thundershowers. At this time, Mithun and his friend climbed a rock near the temple and stood there enjoying the rain. Drastically, a flash of lightning struck both of them.

It was the third friend who ran down to the ground and informed locals about the incident. Locals and the police rushed the two to a hospital but Mithun could not be saved. Mithun's body has been shifted to the district hospital.
