MUMBAI: A recent report claims that Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the first test in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. Speaking to the media after losing the test series against New Zealand the other day, Rohit had said that he could not say for sure whether he would be playing in the first test against Australia. It is said that the India skipper will not play the first test in Perth due to personal reasons.
According to some reports, Rohit's wife Ritika is pregnant and the couple are expecting their second child. National media have reported that Rohit has decided to give the first test a miss so that he can be with his wife and family during childbirth. However, neither Rohit nor his close sources have officially commented on the reports regarding the second child.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Rohit Sharma will join the team ahead of the second Test starting on December 6. The first Test will start in Perth on November 22. Earlier this year, former captain Virat Kohli had also taken a similar leave when the England cricket team came to India for the Test series. Kohli was completely absent from the series against England.
