THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan reaffirmed that the K Rail project will not happen in Kerala even if the central government approves the plan.
V D Satheesan:
“Kerala is a state prone to many environmental problems. The K Rail line will be constructed at a height of 30 feet and a distance of 300 km. The state government simply wants to go ahead with this Rs two lakh crore project at a time when the welfare schemes are stalled and the coffers remain empty. The government is trying to make Kerala into Sri Lanka.
With the addition of an automatic signalling system and necessary changes in the curves of the existing railway, it will be possible to reach Kasaragod from Thiruvananthapuram in four and a half hours. There is no need to rush with the project and invite an environmental disaster just to save that half hour.”
