PALAKKAD: Congress leader Shanimol Usman has responded to the inspections carried out by the police on the complaint that Congress leaders were making illegal money transactions in connection with the by-elections. Speaking to the media, Shanimol said that it was an action that questioned her pride as a woman.
"The police's action of knocking on my door after 12 o'clock in the night is wrong. Male police officers came first, and then female police officers arrived. This isn't a market where you can come and go as you please," Shanimol said.
"After the inspection, all my clothes and belongings were found scattered around the room. They rang the doorbell at an odd time and asked me to open the door immediately. I opened the door after changing my clothes. Four police officers were in uniform, while the others were in mufti. Although I asked for their IDs, they didn't show me any. A female police officer performed the body search. This is the room where I have been staying for two weeks. They checked the toilet and the bed. I asked them to provide a written report stating that nothing was found in my room. However, they did not give me a proper reply," she said.
The special squad conducted the inspection on the basis of receiving a complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil, the UDF candidate in Palakkad. The CPM is alleging that money was delivered in a trolley bag.
