KOTTAYAM: More information surface in the incident where a youth hacked his wife and mother-in-law to death in Vaikom. The two dead are Geetha (58) and her daughter Sivapriya (30) of Maravanthuruthu in Vaikom. After committing the crime, Sivapriya's husband Nitheesh surrendered before the police.

Nitheesh committed the murders on Monday evening. The reason to take the extreme step has come out now. Geetha's son Sivaprasad was an expat. He reached home one-and-a half-years ago, met with an accident and lost his life. Geetha was staying alone after the incident. Meanwhile, Geetha fell down and injured her hand. With this, Sivapriya, who was living in a rented house, shifted to her mother’s house.

Nitheesh and Sivapriya have a four-year-old daughter. Nitheesh would occasionally bring his daughter to Sivapriya. She got a job at a computer shop in Vaikom. Nitheesh told police that he committed the crime after his wife's family ignored him and that he was not given the due consideration.

Nitheesh reached his wife’s house on Monday afternoon. He was drunk. Only Geetha was at home. A verbal dispute broke out between the two. By 3 pm, Nitheesh strangled her to death. He then went to his daughter’s school, picked her up and went straight to his relative's house.

He then came to his wife's house alone. Sivapriya came after work and there were some heated exchanges between the two. In a fit of rage, he took a knife and stabbed her to death. He reached home and informed his relatives and they in turn informed the police.
