TEHRAN: US President Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, has already announced that America's golden period will happen in the coming days. What is going to get the most attention in Trump's foreign policies will be his approach to Iran. After the news of Trump's victory came, the Iranian rial fell to the lowest level in history. One Iranian rial fell to $0.000024. Amir, a 22-year-old Iranian student, said issues that are negative for them at the international level will become even more problematic.

Trump's victory has evoked mixed reactions from the people of Iran amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Some fear that the war will escalate and that economic sanctions and restrictions will increase. Others are hoping that this will lead to a political change in Iran and a change in the current conservative regime.

Trump had imposed tough economic sanctions on Iran during 2017-2021. The Iranian rial was valued at 32,000 per dollar at the time of the Iran nuclear deal in 2015. Iran's dispute with the United States escalated after Trump unilaterally withdrew from the deal in 2018. The common man's stand is that the sanctions imposed on Iran should be lifted no matter who wins.

Some young people are also of the opinion that Trump's victory will help bring democracy to the country and eliminate religious rule. Iran's political leadership, on the other hand, has apparently said that the US presidential election is not important to them. Ali Fadawi, deputy chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), said there was a possibility that the United States would work with Israel to prevent them from attacking Israel.

Iran's oil exports will be affected if sanctions are imposed again, just as the US imposed in 2018. With this, the revenue of Iran's government will come down. With this, Iran's government will have to take tough measures against the people, including increasing taxes, which is a headache for the Iranian government. When Iran launched a missile attack on Israel on October 1, Trump told Israel that ‘Israel should hit nuclear facilities first and worry about the rest later." Whether that decision will be implemented remains to be seen in the times to come.
