KANNUR: Former district panchayat president PP Divya said that she is saddened by the death of ADM Naveen Babu. She said that she will get a chance to prove her innocence in court. Divya was responding to the media after her release from jail.

"Be it journalists or the general public, they have been seeing me for over two decades. I have worked as a people's representative in the district panchayat for the last 14 years. I am a person who works with people from different political parties and officials. I speak to any officer only in a well-intentioned manner.

I believe in the law. I'll tell the court my part. Just as Naveen Babu's family, I also want a proper investigation into his death. I hope I get an opportunity to prove my innocence in court."

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also informed that the investigation into Naveen's death is in the final stages. The Kannur Principal Sessions Court granted bail to Divya on the grounds that she was a woman. The court also observed that the absence of the woman head of the family would create difficulties in the family, even if it was for a short period of time. The court also considered the argument that PP Divya's father is a heart patient. The verdict also said that the prosecution could not prove that Divya should still be in custody. In her bail plea, Divya had also mentioned about her family's situation and her father's illness.
