Baba Siddique assassination: Accused offered Rs 25 lakh, car, flat and Dubai trip

MUMBAI: Former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12. Police arrested 18 people in the case. The accused told the police that they offered Rs 25 lakh, a car, a flat and a trip to Dubai to kill Baba Siddique.

The accused disclosed this during interrogation. Ramfulchand Kanojia (43), Rupesh Mohol (22), Shivam Kohad (20), Karan Salve (19) and Gaurav Apune (23) were offered a trip to Dubai, a car, a flat and Rs 25 lakh. The police also found that Akhtar, a native of Jalandhar in Punjab, had sent four lakh rupees to the arrested accused from ten bank accounts before the murder.

Meanwhile, Mumbai crime branch arrested two people from Pune yesterday for their involvement in the murder. Aditya Raju Gulankar (22) and Rafeeq Niaz Shaikh (22), residents of Pune's Karve Nagar, were arrested last day. The police say that they are related to Praveen Longar and Rupesh Mohol, who were arrested earlier. Police said that Aditya Raju Gulankar was trained to handle guns.

At the time of the murder, Siddique was bursting firecrackers outside the office of his son and sitting MLA of Bandra as part of Dussehra celebrations. Meanwhile, three masked men came on a bike and fired continuously at Siddique. The miscreants armed with guns opened fire more than three times at Baba Siddique. He sustained injuries on his chest and stomach. Later he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai but died.
