THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India won by 61 runs in the first Twenty20 match against South Africa on Friday, big thanks to Sanju Samson’s spectacular century. Sanju, who came out as an opener for India, hit the ton in a record 47 balls.
He got out after scoring 107 runs off 50 balls with seven fours and 10 sixes. Sanju became the first Indian player and the fourth player in the world to score two centuries in a row in Twenty20 Internationals.
However, Sanju’s father was not lost in the showering praises that were coming his son's way. He recalled the humiliation Sanju went through at the hands of former captains Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Sanju’s father Samson Vishwanath held veterans Rahul Dravid, Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli responsible for ruining Sanju’s ten vital years. Sanju's father later thanked Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav for trusting in his son and dedicated these two centuries to them.
“Those who ruined son’s ten years are not real sports professionals. The more they hurt, the more Sanju came out of the crisis. The coming years will be his and he will compensate for the ten years lost. Sanju’s batting has got a classic touch. His style brings back memories of Sachin and Dravid’s game.” said Samson Vishwanath.
