PALAKKAD: Southern Railway has announced a special train on the Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram route considering the heavy rush of Ayyappa devotees during the Mandala-Makaravilakku season. The special train service will run from November 12 to January 28. Thiruvananthapuram North-Bangalore weekly train (06083/84) will run from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru on Tuesdays and vice versa on Wednesdays. There will be a total of 48 services in both directions.
Ayyappa devotees can get down at Kottayam and Chengannur stations and catch a bus to Pamba. The Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram train arrives at Palakkad Junction at 9.10 pm on Wednesdays. The train has 16 third AC coaches, two sleeper class coaches and two baggage cum generator cars. The ticket reservation for the special train will start soon.
