THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Kerala, with a possibility of moderate rain, thundershowers and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph expected in isolated areas of Kollam and Idukki districts over the next three hours. Light rain is also likely in Pathanamthitta district.
Rain with thunder and lightning is expected at scattered locations across Kerala through November 13. A yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts for Tuesday, warning of isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall is defined as receiving between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm of rain within a 24-hour period.
Despite these warnings, the department has assured that there will be no disruptions to fishing along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today. However, gusty winds with speeds of 35-45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph, are expected over the southern Tamil Nadu coast, the Gulf of Mannar, parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal, southeast Bay of Bengal, and the adjoining central east Bay of Bengal.
