Rape repeats in UP; coaching centre teachers arrested for sexual assault of minor NEET aspirant

KANPUR: Coaching centre teachers have been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing and threatening a student of a NEET training centre for months. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. The arrested have been identified as Sahil Siddiqui (32) and Vikas Porwal (39), two prominent teachers at the coaching centre.

The incident took place in January. The girl had come to Kanpur in 2022 for NEET coaching. Sahil, who was the girl's biology teacher, invited the girl to his flat saying that he was organising a party for all the students. It was only when the girl reached the flat as per the invitation that she realised that there was no one else there.

The girl was given a drink and raped. The visuals were also captured on the mobile. The teacher, who constantly threatened to release this footage and kill her family members, sexually abused the girl for months. Sahil forced the girl to participate in the parties he organized. Vikas Porwal, a chemistry teacher, molested the child during one such party. The child was not a minor at the time.

Sahil was arrested and released on bail after footage of his sexual assault on another student a few months ago went viral. When the girl came to know about this, she gathered the courage to file a complaint. The Kanpur police said they have arrested Vikas and Sahil, who was released on bail on Friday.
