KANNUR: Kannur CPM district secretary MV Jayarajan has not completely rejected the bribery allegations against ADM Naveen Babu, who committed suicide, and is providing a protective shield to PP Divya.
The Kannur CPM is holding Divya close when the state leadership and the chief minister are reiterating that they are with Naveen's family. The district secretary's stand is that there are two sides to Divya's allegation that Naveen Babu took a bribe.
Jayarajan clarified his stand after listing out the party's actions against Divya at the Peringome area public meeting. This is the first reaction of the district leadership after issuing a press release regarding the organisational action against Divya.
Divya was removed from the post of district panchayat president as soon as party was convinced of her lapses and later action was taken. Divya accepted the action. "The bribery allegation against Naveen Babu is not completely ruled out. There are two sides to this allegation. The truth should be known through an investigation. This is not a question of rejecting or targeting Divya or Naveen's family. The party is of the view that there should be a thorough probe into Naveen's death. As the family of the deceased, the party has taken the organizational action of standing with them. What sort of media ethics is it to say that Divya said things that she did not say," Jayarajan asked.
The party had not accepted the bribery allegation against Naveen. Naveen was given a clean chit by people including the Pathanamthitta district secretary. Jayarajan is offering protection to Divya rejecting this. Jayarajan made public the stand of a section of the party that there was a reason for Divya's move.
