HAVANA: Two powerful earthquakes struck southern Cuba wreaking major damages after hurricanes and blackouts left many on the island reeling. Hours after the 5.9-magnitude quake, another 6.8-magnitude quake struck. It was found that the strong earthquake occurred 25 kilometers off the coast of Bartolome Mazo in eastern Cuba.

Houses, big buildings and roads were badly damaged in the earthquake. However, there were no reports of casualties. Rafale, a Category 3 wind, lashed the Caribbean Island nation only a few days ago. The people of the big cities of Cuba such as Santiago de Cuba, Holguin and Guantanamo were frightened by the earthquake. Many ran out of their houses for safety.

After Hurricane Rafale, there were power outages in many parts of Cuba. Cuba has been involved in this problem for days. 10 million people are without electricity
