WASHINGTON: US President-elect Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin after his election victory. Trump also reportedly asked Putin to take steps to prevent the Russia-Ukraine war from escalating. After winning the election, Trump had spoken to various heads of state.

Ending the Russia-Ukraine war was one of Trump's key campaign promises. Meanwhile, news came out including that a peace treaty was being prepared to end the war. Citing close sources, international media reports that Trump's primary goal is to emphasize securing peace in Europe, with Trump expressing interest in future talks aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine.

After the victory, Trump contacted about 70 world leaders including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
