THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four were arrested for stabbing a youth at Thiruvananthapuram’s Manaveeyam Veedhi. Shiyas, Suhail, Arfaj and Ranjith, natives of Vembayam, have been arrested by the Museum police. The police have so far arrested seven people, including a woman, in the case.

It was last Thursday that the gang tried to stab Shijith near Manaveeyam Veedhi. Shijith is included in the rowdy list released by the police. The police said the assassination attempt was a result of a feud between drug gangs.

Shijith and Shiyas are members of drug sales gangs. Earlier, Shiyas was under the custody of Venjaramoodu police in a drug case. It was believed that Shijith betrayed Shiyas which resulted in police arresting him. The assassination attempt was part of this vengeance.

Sneha, a mutual friend, called Shijith to Althara junction near Manaveeyam Veedhi on the day of the incident. Shiyas and three others came in a car and tortured Shijith. They even stabbed the youngster. The commotion attracted the attention of locals forcing the gang to flee in the car with Shijith. They dropped him near the medical college hospital premises.

The accused abandoned the car near Panayarakonam and later used their friend’s vehicle to pass into Coimbatore. The gang later returned to Thiruvananthapuram and police arrested them from Peroorkada. Sneha Anil, who reached her home in Pathanamthitta, was arrested on Monday.
