KOZHIKODE: Former minister and congress leader M T Padma passed away. She was 83. She was undergoing treatment for old age ailments. She was staying with her daughter in Mumbai and breathed her last there. Her body will be brought to Kozhikode on Wednesday. She was a member in the K Karunakaran and A K Ministries.
She was elected from Koyilandy in the eighth and ninth Kerala Assemblies. She was the third woman member in the Kerala Assembly.
She was born on January 9 in 1943 to M Govindan and C T Kausalya. Her husband is M Radhakrishnan and has two children, a son and daughter.
She started her political career through Congress’ Kerala Students Union. She has a degree in law and a postgraduate degree in arts. She had served as KSU state vice president, KPCC member, mahila congress general secretary, Kozhikode DCC secretary and treasurer.
