MOSCOW: Russia is preparing to form a 'Ministry of Sex' to deal with the country’s declining birth rate. It is reported that Nina Ostanina (68), a supporter of President Vladimir Putin and chairperson of the Family Protection Committee of the Russian Parliament, is considering a petition in this regard.
Putin has previously called for people to have intercourse with their partners during free time at work. There is a significant fall in the birth rate in the country while the war with Ukraine has resulted in 600,000 Russian casualties. This is Russia’s lowest birthrate in 25 years.
In this new scheme, the ministry will offer 5,000 roubles (Rs 4,302) for couples on their first date. Newlyweds will be offered opulent hotels to spend one night by the state, to improve the chances of pregnancies.
In Khabarovsk, there were reports about the state offering money up to £900 (Rs 98,029) for women aged between 18 to 23 to have a child. The Regional Health Minister also made an odd comment asking to normalize sex at work practice. This scheme floated the idea of partners engaging in copulation during tea breaks and lunch hours amid work hours.
Earlier, there was news about Russia planning to impose fines on people promoting a child-free lifestyle.
